Areas of interest

My research explores why we eat the way we do, from the earliest food preferences that take root in childhood to the habits that carry into young adulthood. I study what shapes fussy eating and food preferences, including maternal psychopathology, child temperament, and genetic differences in taste sensitivity. I am particularly interested in how parents' feeding practices and goals influence children's eating, including how food poverty and insecurity shape these dynamics, and how the broader eating environment, from family mealtimes to social eating, affects diet, health, and psychological well-being.

I have expertise and experience in a range of quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including randomised-controlled trials; surveys; questionnaire development; Systematic and Scoping Reviews; qualitative interview studies, focus group studies and IPA studies.
